The Author

Phillip B. J. Reid was born in Baltimore City, Maryland, on October 27, 1948, and is a graduate of Edmondson High School, the Community College of Baltimore, and Morgan State University.

Mr. Reid joined the Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) in 1969, where for eight years, he was assigned to street patrol duties; the personnel recruiting division; and the BPD training academy, as an instructor.

Mr. Reid joined the FBI in 1977, and during his 28-year career, he was assigned to seven FBI Field Offices, and FBI Headquarters, in Washington, DC.

Mr. Reid retired from the FBI in 2005 as the special agent in charge of the Denver, Colorado, field office, overseeing the FBI’s investigative responsibilities in Colorado and Wyoming.

Mr. Reid was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE).
